TOWER HOUSE in Gortgarn

TOWER HOUSE

What is recorded here

Tower House stands in Gortgarn, County Derry, a post-medieval structure from the sixteenth or seventeenth century. Its stones mark a lived defensive place, likely guarding a household against the unstable borderland world of that era. The building still holds the shape of human fear and pride, even when its rooms no longer name their owners.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as TOWER HOUSE. Recorded period: POST-MED; C17TH. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
