Tower house and World War II air raid shelter, 360m east of Biddlestone Home Farm

Scheduled monument

What is recorded here

Mortal danger has worn this Northumberland earth for centuries. Medieval borders sharpened the tower into a knife-edge of stone, then wartime skies bent the same ground into a shelter for ordinary lives. The house and the hole beneath it are one continuous answer to fear, separated only by the years they waited.
The National Heritage List for England records Tower house and World War II air raid shelter, 360m east of Biddlestone Home Farm as a scheduled monument. The saved point comes from the centre supplied by the official record. Listing does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
