On NW side of low valley with stream flowing to NE. Well, described in 1955 (Ó Danachair 1955, 210) as 'a small rectangular well with a poor spring in a little grove of whitethorn trees', has recently been completely modernised. Rectangular pool (0.9m x 1.5m) now covered by stone vault, with arched opening to E; above opening is arched recess with statue behind glass; this facade flanked by stone piers. Area in front of pool paved and enclosed by stone wall with crenelations. There are cups etc. in vicinity of pool. According to Ó Danachair (ibid.) rounds are made 'on the Saturdays of May' and the well dedicated to Our Lady and St Ita; the water was reputed to cure 'sore eyes and other ailments' (ibid.).

Linked to Saint Murry (Máedóc), a 7th-century Irish saint associated with several holy wells in the midlands. The well was traditionally visited for healing, particularly for skin ailments and to ensure safe childbirth, with rituals often involving the use of holy water and the circling of the well.
