Why this matters
Tober Patrick is associated with Saint Patrick and was historically visited during Penal Times on the feast day for spiritual or physical healing. The site reflects the persistence of Catholic devotion in times of religious persecution.
What is recorded here
On a N-facing slope, c. 20m S of a road. The well is a deep natural water-filled basin in a cleft in the slope. The surrounding area is waterlogged. This well is said to have been visited during penal times on the feast of St Patrick (MacDonagh 1936, 31). By 1942-4 it was recorded as no longer in use (ITA).
