The 3d Strategic Air Depot, operated by the United States Army Air Forces during World War II, was located near Watton and Griston, supporting the maintenance and repair of B-24 Liberator bombers for the Eighth Air Force. It played a crucial role in sustaining Allied air operations over Europe from 1943 to 1945.
