What is recorded here

This blue commemorative plaque records: Canal Gardens These ornamental gardens were formed from a walled kitchen garden built c.1816 for Thomas Nicholson of Roundhay Park. Inheriting the estate in 1833, his stepbrother Stephen added the canal, 350 by 34 feet, spanned by two rustic bridges and terminating in an arbour. Recorded plaque organisation: Leeds Civic Trust.
Thomas Nicholson and Stephen Nicholson were prominent landowners in Leeds; Thomas established ornamental gardens at Roundhay Park circa 1816, while Stephen expanded these grounds significantly by adding a notable canal feature, enhancing the local landscape's aesthetic and recreational value.
