Vice-Admiral Sir Thomas Hardy GCB, 1st Baronet, served as the Captain of the Fleet at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805 and was a close companion to Admiral Nelson, famously being the recipient of Nelson's dying words. He later held significant naval positions including First Sea Lord from 1830-1834.
