This black commemorative plaque records: The Binley Oak. It was in the backroom of this public house that The Specials unique ska sound was originally created and where Pauline Black first became a member of The Selecter Recorded plaque organisation: 2-Tone Trail.
The Specials and The Selecter were pioneering two-tone ska bands from Coventry, influential in reviving ska music in the UK during the late 1970s; Pauline Black, as lead vocalist of The Selecter, was notable for her powerful voice and political activism.
