The Screes is a sea cliff composed primarily of Carboniferous limestone, formed around 340 to 320 million years ago through the accumulation of marine sediments. It is notable for its exposure of durable limestone strata that have resisted erosion, contributing to the distinctive coastal topography of the Westmorland and Furness area.
