The Old Courthouse

Memorial

What is recorded here

Marianne Brady killed her own mother in 1881. Patrick Joseph Brady built the Old Courthouse the same year. The facts refuse to connect them, but the timing suggests a local woman vanished into a public building. The courthouse still stands in County Cavan, preserving the year when a private tragedy and a civic project collided.
Built in 1881 by Cavan architect and civil engineer Patrick Joseph Brady. The original two-storey building held court sessions on the bottom floor and school classes above. It was demolished and rebuilt in 1928 as the one-storey building you see now.
