This blue commemorative plaque records: This plaque commemorates a conference held near this spot on the 3rd day of May 1655 of ministers and messengers of the following baptist churches Alcester, Bourton-on-the-Water Derby, Hook-Norton, Moreton-in-Marsh Tewkesbury and Warwick from which was founded the Midland Association of baptist churches known since 1892 as the West Midland Baptist Association and now representing 131 churches "Te Deum Laudamus" Unveiled 17th May 1955
The Midland Association was founded in 1655 as a confederation of Baptist churches in the Midlands, marking an early effort at organizational unity among Baptists in England. This association, now known as the West Midland Baptist Association, has played a significant role in sustaining and expanding Baptist practices and beliefs in the region.
