The Marquis of Granby refers to a series of public houses named after John Manners, 3rd Duke of Norfolk, known as the Marquis of Granby, who was celebrated for his philanthropy towards soldiers. This particular establishment served as an important coaching inn along the Kettering to London route from 1776 until the mid-19th century when rail transport superseded stagecoach travel.
