The Chapel of St. Mary, Bradwell Abbey, was founded in the 11th century by the Bishops of Lincoln, dedicated to the Virgin Mary. It is significant as the site of the only surviving Anglo-Saxon high cross in England, the Bradwell Cross, and represents an important example of early Christian architecture in the region.
