This blue commemorative plaque records: Tafarn yr Angel Oddeutu 1240 dyma lle'r oedd siop Robert de Ffrere. Yn ystod y 400 mlynedd ganlynol fe'i defnyddiwyd ar gyfer nifer o ddibenion ac yn 1613 dyma lle'r oedd bragdy'r eglwys. O tua 1700 ymlaen dyma lle'r oedd Tafarn yr Angel. Yn 1965 daeth yn siop eto. Recorded plaque organisation: Monmouth Civic Society, Monmouth Town Council.
The Angel Inn in Monmouth has a history dating back to around 1240 when it was a shop owned by Robert de Ffrere; over the centuries, it served various purposes including as a church brewhouse and later became a renowned inn.
