What is recorded here

Tarbert Castle was a 19th-century steamship on Lower Loch Fyne, not a stone castle at all. The name suggests rocks, Ardmarnock and castle walls when the truth is a vessel moving through the Firth of Clyde. That gap between the name and the thing is the interesting part.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Tarbert Castle: Silver Rocks, Ardmarnock, Lower Loch Fyne, Firth of Clyde as Steamship (19th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 100m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
