Mistaken identity and human greed killed Talyfan Castle. The Despenser family owned a large cylindrical keep on a hill spur until the 16th century, when ruin took it. Men demolished the remaining walls between 1828 and 1860 to build a local farm, erasing the castle from the landscape.
