Talybont Castle, also called Hugh's Castle or Castell Du, is a Medieval motte and bailey in Swansea, Wales. The national record preserves its shape and name, while the land may still hide the dug trench, wooden stair or packed earth that made the castle work. A knight may have stood on the mound at dawn, watching mist leave the valley below. The castle is no longer a home, but it remains a marker of the moment when people shaped that land for defence and life.
