Talbois Castle

Ruins

What is recorded here

Talbois Castle anchored Spalding when Ivo Tailbois became lord in 1073, but its proud structure has vanished into private gardens and forgotten earth. A vast iron fetter lock and defaced carved stones survive, hinting at the scale of the doorway and the hands that shaped them. The missing building does not feel like a gap; it feels like a trap, waiting for someone reckless enough to imagine what the lock secured.
Talbois Castle is shown as a ruins on the public map of South Holland. The saved point is the map point or the centre of its mapped shape.
