What is recorded here
Sydney Mary Thompson was born in 1847 in Whitehouse, County Antrim, where childhood coastlines and boat trips shaped her before she turned to geology, botany and art. She worked across Ireland with Mary Andrews and the Belfast Field Club, mapping glacial erratics and helping locate the western reach of the Irish Sea Glacier. Her life moved from Belfast rooms to Dresden, London, Scotland and finally Llandudno, where she died in 1923, but the strange stones she traced still point back to that northern coast.
