This black commemorative plaque records: Swan & Angel These licensed premises are named after two of St Ives long lost pubs, marked on an early 18th-century town map. They stood on the site of the public house next door but one to this building. The Swan and The Angel long served the weekly market known as the "Monday Market?. The building where you are now was built as a supermarket soon after two three-storey properties had been demolished, in 1968. Number 8 Market Hill had housed Miller's music shop. Before c1940, it had been Radford's household furnishers for about 60 years.

The Swan & Angel refers to two historic pubs, The Swan and The Angel, which were significant local establishments serving St Ives' "Monday Market" in the early 18th century; the current building, constructed in 1968 as a supermarket, replaced these and other properties that had housed businesses like Miller's music shop and Radford's household furnishers.
