This blue commemorative plaque records: Newcastle Road, Sunderland AFC's sixth ground, used between 1886-1898. Sunderland's first league game took place here on September 13th 1890. The 'Team of All The Talents' won the league title in 1892, 1893 and 1895. England beat Wales 4-1 here on March 7th 1891. Recorded plaque organisation: Sunderland Association Football Club.
Sunderland Association Football Club's Newcastle Road ground was pivotal as their sixth venue from 1886 to 1898, hosting their first league game and witnessing the 'Team of All The Talents' win three consecutive league titles.
