What is recorded here
Wall-mounted cast-iron ward boundary marker, dated 1844. Set in painted rendered, ruled and lined wall. (ii) Wall-mounted cast-iron street sign, c.1950. Set in painted rendered, ruled and lined wall.
An unassuming item of street furniture representing an early-surviving artefact of mass-produced cast-iron ware. Raised details contribute significantly to the design value of the marker. Although of comparatively recent vintage a street sign incorporates attractive Old Irish lettering indicating the continued promotion of a national cultural identity in the mid twentieth century.
