Why this matters

The *Strathelliot* was a motor fishing vessel from Scotland, lost in 1948 when it sank off the coast of Aberdeenshire during a storm. All four crew members died, and the vessel was carrying a cargo of fish and fishing gear; its wreck remains an important example of post-war fishing industry vessels in Scottish waters.
