St Kessog's Well is associated with St Kessog, a 7th-century Pictish saint known for his ascetic life and healing miracles. The well was traditionally visited for its curative properties, particularly for ailments of the eyes and skin, and was likely a site of pilgrimage and local Christian devotion in medieval Scotland.
