What is recorded here

Castle Street in Stranraer still carries the King's Arms Hotel, a building that probably fed sailors, merchants and wandering families before the port became busy. The address sits in Dumfries and Galloway, where sea roads and land roads crossed, so a hotel there would have been loud with coats, boots and stories. Whether it served ale, rooms or only passage to elsewhere, it belonged to the movement of people through Scotland's western edge.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Stranraer, Castle Street, King's Arms Hotel as Hotel (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
