Stonehaven, St Kieran's Well

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Stonehaven, St Kieran's Well as Fountain (mid 19th Century) (1860), Holy Well (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

St Kieran's Well is associated with St Kieran, an Irish saint traditionally linked to the 6th century, and is believed to have healing properties, particularly for eye ailments. The well's medieval origins reflect the spread of Irish monastic influence to Scotland during the early Christian period.
