On a rocky Galway shoreline, a leaning granite boulder still wears a fresh-carved face of Christ and a raised Latin cross, marking sudden devotion rather than centuries of tide-worn patience. The stone may have stood as an old field boundary before someone cut worship into its skin, yet the unweathered grooves suggest the hand worked there recently. Sea spray and lichen now share the boulder with that new faith, forcing the coastline to hold both memory and invention at once.

On a rocky shoreline, c. 2m from the sea. A granite boulder, which may be part of an old field boundary, has been recently carved with what appears to be an image of Christ. The boulder is earthfast but can be moved slightly with effort, suggesting that the image was carved in situ. The boulder (H 0.8m; base 0.57m E-W x 0.3m N-S) leans slightly to the N (0.2m away from the vertical). The top narrows and is almost square in plan (0.24m N-S; 0.23m E-W). The Christ-like image faces WNW. The raised features - the outline, eyes, nose and beard - are part of the original face of the stone. The areas carved away are very fresh and not weathered indicating a very recent date for the image. A latin cross (L 0.2m; Wth 0.14m) is carved in relief on top of the boulder and is about 0.05m proud of it. The shaft and arms of the cross (both 0.07m in thickness) consist of two bands with a central depression. Lichen is growing on the S and E faces of the boulder and sporadically on the W face.
