That is the present evidence in Callan South. A stone panel shows a cleric facing a griffin-like creature, and it has moved from St Mary's medieval parish church to the RC church near Green St. The change of address does not remove the picture or diminish its strangeness.

Likely dating to the early medieval period, the stone sculpture may have originally served a liturgical or commemorative function within the ecclesiastical landscape.
