This stone commemorative plaque records: THESE ANCIENT ALMSHOUSES were repaired by WM. RUDHALL AD. 1575 and restored by ROSS CHARITY TRUSTEES AD. 1960 WHEN THE FIVE ORIGINAL HOUSES WERE CONVERTED INTO THREE WITHOUT ALTERING THEIR TUDOR FRONT Recorded plaque organisation: Ross Charity Trustees.
The almshouses, repaired in 1575 by William Rudhall and later restored by the Ross Charity Trustees in 1960, provide insight into Tudor-era charitable institutions designed to house and support the poor.
