Grotesque male stone head from Trinity Abbey, County Dublin, with bulging eyes, one closed, long nose, cheek wrinkles and hair on top. It still stands in an unknown townland, watching people pass like a monk who forgot how to leave.

Davies (1948, 100) recorded a grotesque male head which is believed to have come from Trinity Abbey (CV020-077001-). The head has bulging eyes, one of which appears to be closed, a long prominent nose, wrinkles on both cheeks and hair on top. Compiled by: Geraldine Stout Date of upload: 31 December 2014

Probably medieval in date, associated with the Abbey; may have had a symbolic or commemorative function, possibly linked to ecclesiastical or funerary traditions.
