Removed from Crossgare before modern memory, the standing stone likely marked a boundary, a burial or a warning people still needed when the fields were young. Its absence does not erase the shape it once cut through the land. A missing stone can be a cleaner mirror than a broken one because it forces imagination to complete what measurement stopped.
