What is recorded here
Coolmaghra lost a standing stone, but loss is not erasure. The stone may have been taken to build a wall, make a road or clear a field. It may have been buried, broken or carried away when the land changed hands. Whatever happened, the place still remembers the shape of what is no longer visible.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as STANDING STONE (removed). Recorded period: PREHISTORIC; UNCERTAIN. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
