Remove the standing stone in Ballynease and the ancient edge of County Derry loses one of its sharpest markers. The act does not erase the place, but it denies the public a visible share of its memory.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as STANDING STONE (removed). Recorded period: PREHISTORIC; UNCERTAIN. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
