What is recorded here

Two thin quartz slabs still stand embedded in a modern field bank on the northwestern slope of Ballynew hill, aligned northeast to southwest despite later human alteration. One measures 1.2 metres and the other 1.25 metres, yet the southern stone may have moved from its original place, leaving their true relationship obscured. They witness an older landscape where pre-bog fields crossed the hill, while nearby people kept repeating the same act of marking space long after the shape of that space changed.

Just off the summit on NW slope of Ballynew hill. Incorporated into a modern field bank are two large thin quartz slabs, aligned NE-SW. The exact relationship of N stone (H 1.2m) to S stone (H 1.25m) is unclear as the latter may not be in situ There is also a pre-bog field system (GA022-089----) on this hill.
