STANDING STONE (O.S. memoir site, unlocated) in Lower Balteagh

STANDING STONE (O.S. memoir site, unlocated)

What is recorded here

Ordnance Survey mapped a standing stone in Lower Balteagh but never found it, turning a PREHISTORIC marker into a phantom point on the chart. The stone may have been broken, buried or simply removed before the surveyor arrived. Its absence does not erase the fact that people once stood beside it, looked across the land and believed the place was worth marking.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as STANDING STONE (O.S. memoir site, unlocated). Recorded period: PREHISTORIC; UNCERTAIN. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
