STANDING STONE (O.S. memoir site) in Kilhoyle

STANDING STONE (O.S. memoir site)

What is recorded here

Kilhoyle holds a standing stone from the prehistoric dark, waiting patience itself. Whether it marked a boundary, a burial or a gathering place, the stone still performs that function: it stops motion and forces attention. The boy who ran past it on his first walk home from school noticed the shape before he understood it. He slowed, touched the edge, and carried the mystery into every ordinary room he entered afterwards.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as STANDING STONE (O.S. memoir site). Recorded period: UNCERTAIN; PREHISTORIC. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
