Standing stone in Killeens (cork By.)

Standing stone

What is recorded here

Standing stone in Killeens (cork By.) stands seventy centimetres tall in rough boggy pasture, overlooking the Blarney River valley. Its rectangular body tapers slightly upwards, while a second possible stone waits sixty metres to the northeast. The pair mark the slope like forgotten sentinels, preserving a boundary or warning long after the hands that placed them disappeared.
In rough boggy pasture, on a N-facing slope overlooking the valley of the Blarney River. This possible standing stone (0.7m x 0.15m; H 0.7m) is rectangular in section and tapers slightly towards the top. There is another possible standing stone (CO074-127002-) c. 60m to the NE. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). Date of upload: 22 December 2009
