In Coolnaconarty, a subcircular stone stands 0.95 metres tall within open pasture, offering unbroken views in every direction. It is not a monumental pillar but a compact, weathered marker, yet its isolation suggests deliberate placement rather than accidental survival. Perhaps travellers used it to judge distance or mark a boundary between competing claims. The stone still performs that function, waiting for human eyes to return across the grass.
