Standing stone in Carrowcrom

Standing stone

What is recorded here

Carrowcrom holds a large prostrate slab beside a cairn, perhaps once upright before time or treasure buried it. The possibility that it stood invites imagination about the hands that moved it and the prayers it heard. What is certain is the stone itself, still present beneath grass and memory, waiting to be seen without invention.
At a cairn (MA040-093001-). This record is listed in the RMP (1997) as 'standing stone -possible'. The source of this information is uncertain. It appears to derive from the possibility that the large prostrate slab at this location may once have stood upright. Compiled by: Jane O'Shaughnessy Date of upload: 19 October 2018
