Standing stone in Carrowcastle (gallen By., Kilgarvan Par.) stands two metres tall in Carrowcastle, a sub-rectangular block whose sides pinch inward near the top like a finger pointing at the Ox Mountains. It occupies a hidden ridge depression where pasture surrounds it and most horizons disappear, leaving only a SE view toward distant hills. The stone may have marked a boundary, a meeting place or a warning, but its shape suggests intention rather than chance.

In pasture, close to the SE boundary of Carrowcastle townland, located on a ridge, within a broad natural depression encircled by gently rising ground, which largely blocks views except to SE towards a skyline dominated by the Ox Mountains. Massive, sub-rectangular upright stone block (H 2m; Wth c. 0.85m; T c. 0.35m), with quartz inclusions. The long axis is NNW–SSE, and has an elongated diamond shape in cross-section.
