What is recorded here

Carricknamart holds a cluster of loose stones on good northern-facing land, yet none can be named with certainty. The oldest survey marked one as a standing stone, but time and perhaps human hands have blurred that identity. What remains is a small field of stones where memory has slipped its shape, inviting wonder rather than certainty.

There are a number of loose stones at this site. One of them may originally have been the 'Standing Stone' marked on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map. Situated on good land sloping downhill in a N direction. The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal.
