Standing stone in Baile An Bhaoithín stood nearly three metres tall until it collapsed in 1980, slipping through a wall gap into the neighbouring field. Its rounded top and thick shoulder suggest it was shaped rather than broken, perhaps marking a boundary, a burial or a warning people still obeyed. The stone no longer points to the sky, but it still occupies the landscape, displaced yet unbroken, remembering the tilt of the earth and the patience of stone.

Located c. 250m to W and uphill of KE042-101----, this standing stone collapsed in 1980 and has slipped downhill, through a gap in the wall, into the field adjacent to that in which it formerly stood. It measures at least 4.69m in length and c. 1.54m in width tapering to a rounded top; a pronounced shoulder on the under-surface reduces its thickness from .77m to .5m at top. At least 1.88m of the stone is unweathered indicating an exposed height of 2.81m when upright; this agrees well with the height of 3.04m given in the OSNB (Marhin, 16). A low upright at the field wall, .6m high and 1m long, may have acted as a support stone. The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey.
