Stafford House, Henry Stafford, and Cecily Bonville blue plaque

This blue commemorative plaque records: Stafford House (renamed Normandy House c1993) is a grade II listed town house dating back to 1760. The house stands on the site of an earlier property, home of Henry, Lord Stafford, Earl of Wiltshire d1523. Stafford was the second husband of Cicely, Marchioness of Dorset, who was responsible for adding the beautiful fan-vaulted Dorset aisle (1540-1530) in the Parich Church; the Stafford arms can be seen over the north porch Recorded plaque organisation: Ottery St Mary Heritage Society.

Henry Stafford was the second husband of Cecily Bonville, and together they resided in a property on this site. Cecily Bonville, also known as the Marchioness of Dorset, is remembered for her significant contribution to the architectural heritage by adding the Dorset aisle with its distinctive fan-vaulting to the parish church.
