St. Senan, a 6th-century Irish monk and bishop, is traditionally associated with several holy sites in the west of Ireland, though specific traditions or cures linked to the altar at Molougha are not well documented. The site may have been part of an early Christian ritual or pilgrimage landscape, common in early medieval Ireland.
