St Salmon's Well is associated with Saint Salmon, an early Irish Christian saint believed to have lived in the 6th century and later venerated in Wales. The well was traditionally visited for its supposed healing properties, particularly for ailments of the eyes and skin, and such holy wells were often sites of pilgrimage and local folklore involving offerings and prayers.
