St Patrick's Well is associated with St Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, and reflects the spread of his veneration into Scottish regions with historical Irish connections. Holy wells dedicated to St Patrick were often believed to have curative properties, particularly for ailments of the eyes and general healing.
