St Mary's Well

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records St Mary's Well as Rag Well (modern), Rag Well (post Medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

St Mary's Well is associated with the veneration of the Virgin Mary and was historically used for healing and purification rituals. In Scottish tradition, such wells were often visited on specific feast days, with offerings left at the site and water collected for its supposed curative properties.
