St Martin's Well, Grumbeg

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records St Martin's Well, Grumbeg as Holy Well (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 100m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

St Martin's Well is associated with St Martin of Tours, a 4th-century Christian saint known for his role in spreading Christianity in Gaul and his legend of sharing his cloak with a beggar. Holy wells dedicated to St Martin were often visited for healing, particularly for ailments of the skin and respiratory issues, and were traditionally visited on or around St Martin's Day (11 November).
