This blue commemorative plaque records: St Kitts Built by Rev Christopher Atkinson for his daughters in 1774 and remained in the family until 1860. First of the village grand houses to be built following the creation of a turnpike road linking Otley with Tadcaster. The building is Grade II Listed. The driveway is private. Recorded plaque organisation: Boston Spa Parish Council.
Rev Christopher Atkinson was a clergyman who significantly contributed to the architectural landscape of St Kitts by constructing one of the first grand houses in the village after the establishment of a turnpike road, showcasing the burgeoning affluence and development of the area during his time.
