St John the Baptist's Well, Fodderty

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records St John the Baptist's Well, Fodderty as Rag Well (post Medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

St John the Baptist's Well in Fodderty is associated with the saint St John the Baptist and was historically linked to healing rituals, particularly for skin ailments. Known locally as Rag Well, it was a site where people left rags or cloths as offerings, a common practice at holy wells in Scotland and Ireland to signify receipt of a cure.
